William Price
South Africa – Enel Green Power
William Price has been the CEO/Country Manager of Enel Green Power (EGP) South Africa since July 2016. He began his career in the Nuclear Power field in 1982 and then transitioned into Renewable Energy, beginning with operations of Geothermal Power Plants, in 1988.
William’s career in the power industry is consolidated by his involvement and experience in all aspects of the project lifecycle, namely: business development, engineering, construction, operations and maintenance. He has managed the execution of geothermal, wind, hydroelectric, solar thermal and solar photovoltaic, and innovative hybrid renewable electrical generation projects.
He joined the Enel Group in 2007, holding several top executive positions as the Vice President of Engineering and Construction in EGP North America and as Project Team Leader in North and Central America. He currently is the Chairman and Managing Director on multiple Boards for the group in its operations in Africa.
He is passionate about people development and innovation; through his guidance and management he has made significant strides in developing local skills, extending South African talent outside of its borders to EGP’s new markets in sub-Saharan Africa.
As CEO/Country Manager, William Price’s leadership was critical in reaching Financial Close for the biggest Renewables Project transaction in Africa (Round 4), financed by South Africa’s top lenders on five awarded wind projects in the South African government’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP). He has managed the growth of EGP into the largest renewable Independent Power Producer in South Africa and has also played a pivotal role in supporting the Group’s expansion into new markets like Zambia and Ethiopia, to name a few.
