Dr Amy Jadesimi
Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base – Nigeria
Dr Amy Jadesimi is the Chief Executive Officer of Lagos Deep Offshore Logistics Base (LADOL), a privately-held logistics company based in Lagos. Born into the family of prominent Lagos businessman, Chief Oladipo Jadesimi, Amy’s initial career path tilted towards the medical sciences. But she changed her mind along the time and today, she is one of the few women who are at the helms of affairs of some of Nigeria’s biggest companies.
Amy Jadesimi studied at the prestigious University of Oxford where she first obtained a degree in Physiological Sciences in the early 1990s and then another degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1999.
But she never put those medical degrees to any use because shortly after medical school, she got a job with Goldman Sachs as an investment banker with speciality in mergers & acquisitions and corporate. Some people believe that her father’s long-running success as an accomplished businessman must have influenced her decision to embrace the corporate world instead of medicine.
She stayed with Goldman Sachs for approximately three years before moving to South Africa where she interned for Brait Private Equity for three months between June 2003 and August 2003. It was after this experience that she came back home to join her father’s new company (LADOL) in 2004.
She started out as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer and held the position for five years. By 2009, she had been promoted to the position of CEO, a position she still occupies till date.
