Afetsi Awoonor

JBW Limited – Ghana

Afetsi Awoonor is the Regional Head, Sales and Marketing for sub-Saharan Africa at Convenio Energy South Africa. He is also the Founder and current Board Chairman of JBW Limited, a multi-industry support services firm focused on the energy, defense and immigration sectors operating out of Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Uganda.

Afetsi holds a Masters in Oil & Gas Management from The Graduate Institute of International & Development Studies in Geneva, Switzerland coupled with post graduate certification from the IFP School Ruel Malmaison, France, University of Pennsylvanian and University of Witwatersrand. He also holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Business Administration from Central University in Ghana.

A respected energy and defense expert, business consultant and leader, Afetsi has extensive experience leading multicultural and multilingual teams across Africa in the structuring, negotiation and implementation of multi figured infrastructure projects and cross-border trade transactions in Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Liberia and other sub-Saharan countries. His African regional transactional experience includes liaising with national and multi-national corporations and well as governments to deliver results and managing G2G, B2G and B2B.

His previous roles include Government Relations Manager for Ghana’s national Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company, BOST, a role in which he led the company’s government affairs, activities, and joint initiatives with other state-owned institutions and foreign governments such as the Ministry of Petroleum, Ministry of Power, Ministry of Finance, the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Ghana Standard Authority (GSA) and Ghana Oil Company (GOIL).

Afetsi is also very involved in grassroots democratic civic activism. He is a well-respected political youth leader in Ghana and has participated in election campaigns in Ghana and Liberia.

Afetsi is an active member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators (AIPN) and Institute for Energy Security (IES). He is also a respected international conference speaker and panellist, speaking at conferences across the African continent.
